About Us

Kōhī is a café, micro-gallery, and listening room rooted in the quiet dialogue between Japanese restraint and warm African design. Our name means "coffee" in Japanese - an entry point into something broader: a cultural ritual built around mindful hospitality, carefully crafted matcha and coffee, and the deep listening tradition of the jazz kissa. At the heart of the space sit our speakers and turntables where selectors and DJs spin vinyls with the same calm precision that defines everything we do. Globally informed, grounded in Joburg's creative soil - this is where Japanese craftsmanship, jazu, and African hospitality meet.

On the first and last Sunday of every month, our space transforms into a jazzy paradise. Bring your own vinyls, come along and listen, bring some friends, have some coffee and pastries and most importantly have a great time.
